Cape Coral Burrowing Owls

Cape Coral is home to the largest population of the Florida species of the Burrowing Owl in the State of Florida. Since this species of these pint sized birds are only found in Florida, by default we have the largest population in the WORLD!

Birders and photographers come from all over the world to see and photograph them. And ever since the book Hoot, written by Carl Hiaasen has become such a hit with the younger generation, children from all over the United States are getting to see the star of the book, the Burrowing Owl, up close and personal.

On this website you will find lots of information about Cape Coral's official city bird, the Burrowing Owl. Over the past seven years we had the privilege of having as many as 9 Burrowing Owls living on our front lawn. What a hoot they are!
