 Hoot, written by Carl Hiaasen is about a group of teens who save the Burrowing Owl from the construction of a pancake house.  Several members of Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife were in the preliminary take of the movie, but unfortunately were edited out in the final version.
   Out in DVD this is a great movie for all ages, 
   If you are interested in learning about birds in general, The Sibley Guide to Birds is one of the most comprehensive books of it's kind on the market.  It isn't a great book to take out in the field, but as a reference book, it is the best.
 

Buffy The Burrowing Owls was written by Betty Gilbert a former resident of Cape Coral who spent many hours photographing her beloved owls.

The book chronicles the life of a Burrowing Owl living here in the Cape. It has been added to the recommended reading list for Florida students by First Lady Ann Scott.

<  Twelve Owls is a newly released book by Laura Erickson and Betsy Bowen.  If you enjoy owls, you will certainly enjoy this book.  All about the owls of Minnesota where the authors live, this book is about all the species of owls found in Minnesota.  Laura Erickson is a popular public radio figure, and Bowen is an award winning artist.
